Maybe you don't get newspapers often but newspapers in general are smaller. I used to work for a small newspaper in Maine. When I first started working there in 2008 it was summertime and the paper in total was 5 sections and more than 60 pages.

I left that job about 5 years later, also in the summer, and we were down to 2 sections and under 20 pages.

Newpapers don't have the money to be as big as they used to. They rely on advertisers, but not many companies are running ads anymore.
