Oh and CMP IS planning a delivery rate hike next year as well. This is fucking ridiculous. We need a better option than for profit utility companies. Fuck CMP, Versant and the PUC.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a good portion of the power comes from new Brunswick. Right now the kwh rate in new Brunswick is 9¢ a kwh (USD). Now cmp is saying they have to raise the rates to 17¢ kwh. Why is new Brunswick paying half of what mainers are when their power is coming from the same sources?

What is new Brunswick doing to keep energy prices down that Maine is not? Can we emulate that?

CMP didn't raise the rate, the Public Utilities Commission did. Yes, people have legit reasons to dislike CMP but they had nothing to do with the increase.

This is something that goes out for bid every single year and again, CMP has no control over it.

Wrong. Cmp filed for the rate increase despite record profits after the last rate hike. The janet mills appointed commissioner and chairmen approved the rate increase. I like how they held the decision until just after the election...classy.

CMP did file for a rate increases but if it is approved that won't take effect till next summer. This increase has nothing to do with CMP. Amazing how many folks such as yourself don't know the difference.

Doesn't matter to these people. They let the people who are now hiking the rate convince them to vote against the corridor, they're too invested in blaming everything on CMP instead of just the problems they're actually responsible for (which, to be fair, there are many of).

Yeah CMP has nothing to do with supply costs, but their record profits sure as fuck could be going into more line crews and preemptive tree work to limit outages.
