They are more compact than a pallet stove and the fuel is easier to manage.

I'd recommend a heat pump over a pellet stove. I had a pellet stove until 2 years ago.

Buy The Fire in Oxford is excellent.

I have a QuadraFire stove as my primary heat for the last 8 years. No issues whatsoever. BUT it cost over $6,000. I think you get what you pay for.

Depending on where in the state you are Buy the fire in Oxford and Alternative Heat Source in Naples both have been good to work with. Most folks will recommend Harman or Quadrafire stoves. They are built by the same company and both are the higher end of stoves.

A lot of the equation will be how comfortable you are working on the stoves. They do require maintenance daily/weekly/monthly. Dealers are good if you want to have them work on the big things, but if you’re a DIY person you could save 1000s by purchasing a big box stove(PelPro from tractor supply, ComforBilt from HD/Lowes) are good stoves, will require more tinkering. An example is Pelpro 130b is the same stove as Quad Outfitter 2. Both same internals and such, but the quad has an external thermostat and dealer support.

In terms of pellets, wood Pellet Warehouse out of Jay is best delivered price and best service I have found. They do statewide delivery too.

The reply was mostly in jest. A pallet stove is designed to burn the wooden pallets that goods are shipped on. Many businesses discard them. Some pallets are chemically treated and should not be burned. The other joke is a nnnn's stove, good for one use (made of wood) replace nnnn with any ethic group. The French were one a Maine favorite. Of course I'm French by marriage.

Just put in a harmon p43 and couldn't be happier with it. It was 4k, but does qualify for the federal tax credit for 26%. Went with the harmon for the quality and warranty.

A lot of it is dependent on your stove. The best idea would be to call the shop, and speak to the guys there, either Curtis or Matthew will be able to give you more information in that regard
