It's been a long time since I've had potato candy. I'm from the south and used to eat it a lot. I remember it being yummy. I will have to find some in Maine and see if it's just as good!

Needhams are a definite as are maple leaf candies and local salt water taffy. Not really a candy but I’ve always been surprised when people from the south don’t know what a whoopie pie is.

Since everyone has mentioned Needhams. Maybe some Maine lobster pops. They are usually cherry or strawberry and usually you can find them in specialty stores. My grandad bought a candy store in the 50s. My uncle still runs it. Amazing how well candy stores do.

You have to send a bottle of Moxie too. Film the response is possible. Watching people try it for the first time is a treat itself.

I know it’s not candy, but we can’t leave out whoopie pies! The origins are disputed, but Labadie’s Bakery in Lewiston is thought to be the first to sell them in 1925.

Wicked Good Stuff aka Shortly Gone make shortbread cookies in the shape of the state. The only place I've seen them is at Town Landing Market in Falmouth but they must be in other places too
