Talk to your PCP and they should be able to give you some recommendations. Remember that not every therapist is right for you, and not every type of therapy is right for you. Don’t let anyone discourage you and never listen to any advice the even remotely sounds like “tough it out”…

I asked my PCP and they told me I had to go through my insurance to see what they'd cover and handle it myself because they don't make referrals to therapists. Except calling people makes me anxious so I avoid it, which is one of many reasons I need therapy. It's a vicious cycle.

The first initial call will be a voice mail almost every time. And when they call you back for the phone consult it’s like 15 mins and you don’t need to (if you don’t want to) go into a ton of detail.
