I saw someone selling Maine-shaped boards at the Fryeburg fair a year or two ago that were really nice. Can’t find their card now of course! There was also someone (maybe the same vendor) who would custom cut signs in the shape of “your” lake. They had some precut of Sebago and other big lakes which was pretty cool. Can anyone refresh my memory for OP?

A nice camp hatchet like the Estwing with a stacked leather handle. Useful, beautiful, and made in USA.

A Buck knife. Usually made in USA, lasts forever and whittling is a good way to pass the time by the fire pit. Even when friends are with you.

Nice flannel or chamois shirt.

Wool blanket.

A mechanical mantel or wall clock that chimes the hours.

A painting of a lake scene.

A freeze alarm that calls you when you’re away to let you know if there’s a power outage or if the temperature drops below a certain level. Some even let you check the temperature of the cabin while you’re away.

+1 on the Estwing, they make a nice splitting hatchet with a fat wedge. Perfect for making kindling. Watch your fingers, straight from the factory they have a nice edge, and the mass makes even a small tap a bloodbath. (Use the typewriter above to describe the event in 3700 words.)

A warm coat, flannels, tools for repairs, a field guide to local plants/wildlife, fishing gear, hunting gear, wood for heat, sporting goods gift card, or anything of that nature.

Depending on the cabin (does it have heat, electricity, or other basics or is it more like a house with cable, internet, modern amenities?) you could get him a space heater, blankets, cookware, etc.
