I’ve been without power since 8:30AM Friday.

Fiber optic internet is still up though, and I still have enough propane to run the generator for a few more days.

I’ve been turning my generator off when I go to bed to conserve propane. I heated my living room up to 74 before I shut it off last night and it was around 60 this morning.

For once I’m glad to be in the CMP section of Hancock, we were out only 24 hours.

TIL there is a CMP section of Hancock county — I always assumed we were all in Versant territory

Parts of Bucksport, Orland, Penobscot, and Castine. It’s a weird divide.

I’m thinking outlanders should have checked to see how often Mainers loose power before making the decision to move here. I’ve always lived in Southern Maine and there have been times we have lost power in my 62 years of life, but beyond Freeport….it’s a given!!

I dont understand how, but I never lost power out in Sullivan. My wife went out Christmas Eve for stuff and had to drive all the way to Ellsworth because the stores close to us lost power. How the hell did the main highway lose power and not me, way out in the woods?

Versant is shitting the bed so badly on this.

Are you kidding me? We live in a very rural state and they had close to 60,000 customers without power. Nearly as much as the ice storm. The employees are giving up their Christmas to get everyone going again and anyone bitching just sounds like an ungrateful brat. The fact they've gotten as many people going again as quickly as they have is pretty impressive.

Not to mention that most power co employees are now on their 3rd straight week without a day off due to the storm last weekend as well.

I’m not kidding you. Their website gives very little/no restoration data and there was a single crew in our town today.

What do you mean? They have a live outage map and said there are over 100 crews working on Christmas Day.

Sometimes we just have to accept that we live in a rural state in a corner of the country. I make sure to have days’ worth of supplies and either a generator or a way to heat the house without power.

You poor thing. What do you want " x street in your town will be back at this exact time" ? You sound so spoiled. What are you, 12? With that much wide spread damage, they were doing the best they could - on Christmas Day no less.

There are multiple trees hung on the power lines, and multiple completely downed lines within a mile of my house. Multiply that for every neighborhood in their territory.

Really? I had no idea. Thanks for that.

🤷🏼‍♂️Not sure what more you expect given the circumstances. It’s not like they can have an infinite supply of line workers just sitting around waiting for the storm to hit so they can restore everyone’s power within an hour.

I expect reasonable information and updates. I do not have power and their communication has been abysmal.

Versant did well for us! We lost power for just over 12 hours. We feel bad for everyone who's still dealing with this!
