I don’t like people who answe questions with questions. Despite doing the same to them in my own response. Feel justified though, since they were cold-calling me.

  • Scammer flounders for bit before deleting account and going after different community.

I actually waited a week and then answered their questions (pretty damn nice itinerary I gave them tbh). I didn't give them any personal info of course. Never got to the bikini pics and just blocked them.

I didn’t know people tried to scam on Reddit omg. They messaged me last week asking about the best places to visit in Maine. I responded and said Acadia but it’s pricy and they said thanks and sent me photos of some Asian lady in the tropics. So strange. I didn’t reply. Scammers are friggin strange.

Yeah they started sending me suggestive photos. I don’t think their first language is English, that or they are bad at feigning interest. Kinda smelled like a scammer pretty quickly, so I kept it vague.

I can't get the exact text back since I blocked them, but they said they were going to be here a month, so I gave them Maine for Dummies:

First, spend some time in Portland, try the restaurants if you're a foodie, visit the lighthouses and Old Orchard Beach and anything else that strikes your fancy.

Next, Acadia National Park.

From there, take your pick: either head further up Route 1 to the Bold Coast area in Washington County; beautiful and much less crowded than Acadia. Or, head inland to Moosehead Lake or the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument; the latter is mostly unimproved so best be driving a 4x4. If you're up for it, visit Baxter State Park and climb Katahdin.

(I didn't get to the Rangeley area and I honestly wouldn't know what to tell anyone to visit in Aroostook.)

I was very briefly in Ogunquit last Thanksgiving and popped into Portland and stopped in Kennebunk and Old Orchard Beach along the way there and back but Portland is as far up the coast we had time for. 😢

We were supposed to move there this Autumn but we had to change plans when my sister got cancer and we landed in Texas, instead.

We have Maine in our sights but we've spent so much moving, supporting my sister & her treatment, we're looking at potentially another year before we can move out there, so we'll just have to make do with visiting.

There was the apartment complex fire, the sex offender up the road, the their neighbor who stole my game boy, the local tire slasher, the police searching the woods with dogs. All kinds of fun lol.

Ahahahah, I fucking knew it. This person messaged me, asking about what to do on a trip to Maine. I said that really depends and basically spammed them some tourist links since I got better shit to do. They then replied with something that look copy-pasted. I asked if they were a bot and they said ".... no" and then never replied. Was fishy as fuck, hope they didn't scam anyone on here.
