Not surprising from a 'doctor' who claims a healthy diet prevents STDs and diagnoses illnesses with Tarot cards.

This is who she is

https://www.pressherald.com/2021/05/02/meet-christiane-northrup-doctor-of-disinformation/

> Northrup herself expounded on a vaccine conspiracy in a widely circulated video interview apparently recorded in October 2020, in which she claimed COVID-19 vaccines would change people’s DNA and infiltrate their bodies with tiny “nanoparticle” robots with two-way 5G antennas. “They have the ability to take your biometric data – not only your vaccine record, but your breathing, your heart rate, your activity, sexual activity, these drugs that you’re taking, where you travel – all of that and then take that data and store it in the cloud,” she said. This information, she said, would then be paired with a barcode that would “connect us to cryptocurrency, so that would become literally slaves to the system.”

> “Once those nanoparticles go in, there’s no detoxing from them, there’s no getting them out of there,” Northrup continued. “They combine with your DNA and you are suddenly programmable, and with the proposed 5G networks the body would be an antenna where you could be controlled from outside of yourself.”

Doctor is a term that gets thrown around too loosely and often without scrutiny.

Be sure to always do a quick google to see if they are legit or not. (Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz)

People need to stop pairing actsylly crazy people with legitimate medical issues like dementia, schizophrenia, mental illnesses bc it’s saying “dementia is bad” instead of “she’s just a wacky loon”

She's old enough that lead poisoning is probably a factor. Honestly, anyone over 50 who grew up in the US has some level of conative impairment from lead.

But this looks more like untreated mental illness.

She was my doctor decades ago. It makes me so sad to see her like this. Back then she was wonderful with women's healthcare. Her book was helpful to so many people. Eventually I started seeing someone else in her practice. She was too busy with book tours, PBS specials etc, to practice on a regular basis.

When she started to go off the rails, it was terrifying. Like an invasion of the body snatchers scenario.

Practicing doctor? I can’t imagine

But he’s got an undergrad in biology from Harvard, received his MD and an MBA from UPenn

Can’t speak to his proficiency as a surgeon but uh, dude is definitely a doctor legally speaking lol

Edit: got curious to see if he was practicing or not, he was vice chair of surgery at Columbia until he started his political career, make of that what you want. I can’t imagine you make it on the surgical board at Columbia by being a shitty surgeon regardless of the dumb shit you say on daytime TV and how obnoxious you are in front of a camera

It’s not mental illness. Stop pairing mental illness with these right wing loons. She’s just wacky af. Saying she’s mentally ill is classing mentally ill peope in this lower class group and not offering any support to those who need it.

Prestigious_Clue145 t1_j2mw9fk wrote

Mentally illness is a spectrum, and although wacky af isn't a recognized diagnosis (yet) she can still have a mental illness. It doesn't mean all mentally ill people are insane like she is though! Paranoid delusions are definitely a sign of unchecked mental illness and I wish she could accept the help she needs

It can be both. In my experience, people with MI are more gentle than average even if they have a hard time connecting with others. But there are some bad apples too and that's what I'd focus on here.

Like, she's choosing to say violent and hurtful things. It doesn't help that delusions make it easier for her to believe she's right, but they're certainly don't help.
