Anyone else having issues with Fidium?

We have to reset our router a lot because it doesn't like to connect to our wifi devices. Even my hardwired PC drops connections.

I plan to call Fidium but I wanted to see if anyone else has been having issues or if we just got a bum router.

Zero issues here, but I use my own router.

How are you doing this? I called them and they said they don’t have an option for using your own router and not paying the $10 fee.

You can't avoid the fee but you can still use your own router. Just give them the MAC address.

I’m not switching until they drop that fee, thats redic.

They are still way cheaper than Xfinity and Spectrum at the Gigabit tier, even with the fee - and it's symmetrical with lower latency.

I pay 79.99 for the comcast 1200 down service in NH.

Yes, I had that promo too. Once it ends, the price jumps about $40/mo. Xfinity also charges $15/mo for a modem rental (you can buy your own but that's another cost) and $30/mo for unlimited data beginning 2024. Fidium's advertised prices also already include "Network Care".

I was afraid it was the router. I also didn't know the won router fee which is super annoying. We're planning on moving to another state in a few months so I'll take u/bigspoutwhale867's advice to check the lights on the router to see if it says anything helpful before calling.

Buying a new router for just a few months seems like a pain.

We had this issue a few times, about a week after installing. I was waiting for it to happen again before I called, it’s been about 2 weeks with no problems.

Did they know what was going on? I truly know nothing about how tech like this works.

I haven’t had to call because it hasn’t happened since. I’m not much more knowledgeable than you are in this area honestly

Concur on using your own router if the included one isn’t working well. There are lots of good options if you don’t need the Attune feature set. The router world is super tough - with all the chipset shortages and manufacturing challenges, everyone in telecom and IT is trying to roll with change.

(I am an employee of Consolidated Communications, but do not directly work in the Fidium part of the company and speak for myself based on personal knowledge. Also, u/s13drfthvn did some testing with his own router and the performance convinced me.)

Im using the TP-LINK Archer AX11000. Probably overkill for most, handling 25+ clients with no issues for me though.

No issues here, in Southern Maine. If your ONT is nearby, check the status of it’s lights when it happens, and note it. Hopefully Fidium can easily check both, when you reach out to them.

I use my own router and I don't think I've reset it in a month. TP Link Deco XE75

Augusta Fidium customer and zero issues with it.

Since I see a lot off discussion on the topic of "own router" on this post. Yes you can use your own router as stated by giving them the MAC or cloning it.

However, I'm going to give a friendly reminder that by using their router, their techs have remote management permissions by default (no setting to disable i t) and can see all the clients hooked up to it.

Yeah, that's a big reason I went with their router. That and I didn't wanna owe Spectrum anymore than I needed to since my last router was their router.
