The old damn site is harder to get to in the winter since there is no real public access on that side of the river where the remnants of the mill are and requires a short hike in across private property.

I would recommend the public house on the common for food as well as the bakehouse for some coffee and baked goods.

Would also recommend the pour farm for a couple drafts and sweetgrass distillery for their tasting room and spirits.

You could see if mathew’s museum is open while you are there but I am not sure about this time of year. Small local agricultural museum located on the fairgrounds.

As for drives, Union is basically a river valley with fours lakes all situated between three mountain ridges. The river meanders through town and around the fair grounds. All three of those ridges have some scenic views and are quick interesting drives.
