If kids can't reach out to their parents about LGBTQ+ matters, they only have a select few avenues that aren't online--teachers, a therapist if they're seeing one, or their friends, to name a few. Depends on the person, of course, but all three groups have a far higher chance of being understanding if a student comes out as gay/transgender/etc. than a parent would.
