The more people that go to OOB, the more people miss the good shit that's right down the street and is much calmer.

I could literally grab some food at OOB, take a small drive, and eat it in a quieter place without crowds that make my anxiety go whoa there.

I agree with what you wrote. It’s nice to read a comment that’s supportive of the area. We’ve been exiled in Vermont for several years, and have finally found a place to live in OOB. I was about ready to call it quits due to stupid scammers on Craigslist. Between Covid and inflation it took a little longer than expected. (We made a major mistake in leaving Saco, where we were for four years.) I’m looking forward to moving in April, before the hoards of tourists take over.

I’m 62f and people have been shitting on OOB since I can remember. But it wasn’t necessarily OOB itself, it was the Canadians and their tiny bathing suit, very robust women with a tube top on. Drunk ass men. You tell people you live in OOB and you get a funny face. We took our motorcycle and rode the streets, bought pier fries and left.

I mean you said oob and motorcycle you automatically get shit on. No one wants to hear it in a packed area full of annoying tourists in a town where any sport besides football doesn't matter and they let locals torch their own businesses for insurance money. The only thing OOB did decent was "in the bedroom" and even Nick Stahl looks like a junkie. It's not Canadians it's all of york county ots a joke, and a shame for maine.

We actually had Yamaha (something). It was a bagger and on the quiet side compared. I’m no biker and nor do i want to be one. So before people pass judgment as they always do, maybe they should get the full knowledge of who I am. But people can’t do that, they prefer to go off half cocked bitching. We rode down, grabbed fries and left,,,we didn’t act like douches. We typically rode all back roads up through northern Maine. Found out of the way places to eat and went back home. People hear motorcycle and they jump to conclusions. In the 80’s it was really bad, motorcycles everywhere, we got drunk, didn’t have a bike until our 50’s. Big fights all the time.

OOB is the most underrated Southern Mane town, its so real. Yes its not perfect but it feels so real and old school Maine.

I know it seems to be an unpopular opinion here, but we stayed at Old Orchard last summer (about a mile from the Pier towards Pine Point) and we loved it. We are old and boring, so we don't go out at night, but we enjoyed walking on the beach in the evening and sitting during the day.

I enjoy OOB but I hate that most of their hotels are a 2 night minimum. One day and night at OOB is just about all I can stand.

Not to mention the cheapest is like 250-300 a night, I usually stay in Portland only a 20 minute drive and you can stay for just a night lol

I had a high school friend who lived in OOB with his dad in a tiny apartment. Just from looking at the outside, I had to wonder 1) how that fit the both of them and 2) how they survived the cold of winters as well as crowded summers.

Myself, I've gone to OOB quite a bit. They had a bonfire event that was pretty neat, and so were the fireworks, but it wasn't eye-popping or anything. And going during the day was absolute hell, at least 5-10 years ago.

I'd much rather go to Ferry Beach down the road. Much calmer. The food is probably the best thing about OOB.

Best beach on the East coast. The ocean park neighborhood (south of the pier) is never too crowded and easily my favorite spot to spend a summer afternoon.
