I'm a big fan of Matias/Alps switches. I'm not a gamer. Just a guy that likes to type on mechanical keyboards.

This is a wireless Bluetooth keyboard for Mac. According to the documentation, you need to charge it for 5-6 hours before you use it the first time. But the charge will last up to 1 year.

Matias Quiet Click switches are VERY quiet. If you're going to use them in an office, nobody would care.

Found this on eBay, new in box for $70.00. Matias sells these for $170 new and Amazon has them for $160.

This keyboard cannot be used wired, just wireless.

It’s actually a crying shame how poor matias quiet clicks feel compared to their regular Clickies.

Well, they are dampened. The click switches feel way better. But I'll take a Quiet Click over a rubber dome.

Really hard to go back to Cherry-style switches once you use Alps or buckling springs.

You can say that again! If you like tactile switches, there are few options these days.

My latest Tactile switch purchases were lubed Glorious Pandas and Boba U4T. They're nice. But I really like Matias switches more.

I think modern clickbar switches are pretty nice too.

I've used Box Jade and Box Navy. They're OK. But they're not as good as Matias Clicky switches.

I have a tactile pro mini with clicky switches and it was a revelation. It is the best feeling keyboard I have ever used and it converted me to the Alps cause. They feel and sound incredible and they shatter every cherry style switch out there. I do think the quality control is a bit shoddy, given the horror stories about chattering switches, and how mine has a shift key that binds a bit on off center key presses, but the other keys feel so awesome I don’t mind it.

The thing that is stopping me from building a custom keyboard is that alps style switches are so niche, and other people are after wet thocky sounds and not deep clicks. But if Matias steps it up with the quality control and really goes into the custom market with pcbs or something, I’m gonna build a board with alps switches!

I wish I could get a Tactile Pro for Windows.

I am all Mac and Linux at home, but my work computer is Windows 10.

I have a full-size Tactile Pro for Mac hooked up to it and I love it.

I have a pile of keyboards, but the only ones I want to use are Matias and my Model Ms.

You got yourself an ace bargain. I am envious and and thrilled.

I have gone through two Matias boards as my daily drivers. I found that they don't hold up well to 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. The switches go after a couple of years.

Enjoy.

Oh-oh. I might have to go in for Numero Tres. I own eight other keyboards, but that Matias was really...

Hmmm...

Thank you for the link.

I just finished charging mine. 5 hours is a long time to charge. But if it lasts a year on a charge, well worth it. I'm using this on my laptop on my dining room table. The Tactile Pro was a bit too loud for my wife watching TV.

This thing was not used. It was NIB.

Matias definitely has issues with chatter. But it would seem to be related to the factory lube or something that gets into the contacts. If you don't mind doing some cleaning, they can continue working for longer. Would be great if Matias could address the issue themselves. My own Matias QC board is currently sitting idle as it has a couple chattering switches that need to be addressed and I'm being lazy. But I also recently mostly finished a Zeal Clickiez tactile/dampened mod so I still have Alps feeling switches that are keeping me happy.

So Zeal Clickiez are kind of Alps-aporoximate? Good to know. I've been circling the intense inclination to build a board but I've been stuck on deciding on switches. And a lot of other things but switches is a major.

Thanks.

Yeah, they have a click leaf very similar to Alps. The housing is obviously MX and not Alps so they definitely have some difference there. But to me, the biggest difference from alps is the extreme tactility even more than Amber Alps it feels to me. I think it's too much personally. Especially if you use them in their tactile position where it's crazy tactile. I would prefer if they would make a version that is more reasonably tactile similar to Alps. Especially if they also made a dampened slider so you could have a Zeal version of a Quiet Click.
