Oil kings vs. KS-3 blacks:
- Have the top housing cutout to eliminate (supposedly) north-facing interference
- have a flipped Gateron logo compared to the KS-3’s
- have a black spring as another commenter mentioned
- I believe also a slightly different bottom housing, I don’t think it’s the shape, it’s the mold marks (but you shouldn’t have to check that anyway as the first 2 are easier)
This is like the 3rd post I’ve seen (and maybe this was first idk) mistaking KS-3 blacks for Oil Kings. I’m not complaining, good to spread knowledge, but come on I feel like you should at least check for the top housing cutout, it’s a defining feature of the newer Gat molds like the Oil Kings and CJ’s

Yes I made the same mistake as others. When you open up an unlabeled box with deep black Gateron switches it’s easy to make the oil king mistake. I didn’t know what the discernible differences were until shortly after my post. Found there is a little circular dimple on the KS3 not on the oils. Also I couldn’t find any info on google mentioning the differences you provided. Not saying it’s not true just wasn’t able to find that info.

Ok fair enough, I apologize, I didn’t mean to be rude to you specifically. It’s hard to explain the cutout in words, but if you find side pictures of CJ’s/Oil Kings and any KS-3 switch (e.g., milky yellow), you’ll see what I mean
