I felt so stupid when I realized it, it was too different when I put in that diode and I didn't think too much about it, just glad I didn't kill my pro micro

Clearly you knows tons about building keyboards THE HARD WAY (aka soldering diodes). Yeah, it was a very close call but I bet you you will never ever ever make this mistake again. I also bet you will use this as a teaching experience for others on this sub and elsewhere.
