Keep that mindset.
You'll be happier in the long run.
In spite of what others will tell you, endgame is perfectly achievable, if you are a relatively content person.
You just have to find out what that endgame actually is, for you.
I currently have two self-designed boards I am perfectly happy with.
Having designed them myself, for my own use, in the specific environments I intend to use them, I don't see anybody stepping up to the plate, and designing something better for me.
Could I upgrade the materials used in the builds?
Yes, but it wouldn't make the builds any better.
Nothing is actually gained by iridium plating this, and diamond encrusting that.
All that would do is drive up the cost, risk making the builds less pleasant to use, and create a deterrent to me just leaving my work board on my desk at night.

My endgame was my downfall. Once i got the perfect board for me, i start to get more quirky layouts (cause i already have a fully functional one so i can play around).
