There’s keeb & puppy, keeb & shoe, keeb & pen, keeb & random stuff. Why not keeb & shave? For me, shaving and keyboards have a lot in common. Both are tools I use every day, with artisans in both fields making cool (and sometimes expensive) well designed stuff.

How's the B&M? So many shave soaps, so little time.

I've had my eye on Seville for awhile but haven't pulled the trigger yet, I'm a sucker for barbershop scents. Every artisan seems to have their own unique barbershop scent take.

WDYM?

At my first big meetup about six years ago a bunch of us stood around the coolers out back and talked about wet shaving. Later on, I talked to a guy about building and repairing vacuum tube amplifiers.

That's also when I learned the term "serial hobbyist".

Definitely appreciate the visual blend of two different hobbies. For myself, I got a Blackland Era razor recently after lurking on r/wicked_edge for a while.

Kudos for mixing it up.

How do you feel about the genesis? I have one too, but I find it doesn't quite shave like they show in the videos. I'm pretty much just letting the blade pressure do the job, but I always see people dragging the shit outta it.

The Genesis is a well made razor. The more I use it the more I like it. But the spring on the pivot is a bit heavy. I never apply enough pressure while shaving to bend the pivot. I thought about swapping out for a lighter spring (like a keeb switch) but it works well as is. As you said, I agree with just letting the weight of the razor do its job, applying very little pressure on the blade.

Well, I'm coming from a 20$ Microtouch one. Its a new experience that I'm quickly warming up to. I have levels one and four in open comb, and have been just using level one so far to learn. Fairly efficient and forgiving for a three pass shave. I get the feeling maybe I should have gotten a level 2 instead of level 1 OC. Though the extra clamping force on some cheap blades I'm using helps cut the hairs much easier. Quickly learned to ease up on the pressure as I nicked myself a few times. Its weighty in the hand, offers some audio feedback with the hollowed out handle, and fairly easy to angle to get at some hard spots on my face.

My only nit pick is the edge on the open comb part itself has a bit of an edge, so it does feel a bit rough at times feeling the 'teeth' of the comb run along the skin. I'm fine with getting used to that, or taking some fine sandpaper and round the edge off if need be: An easy fix.

For the sale price it has currently? Its pretty awesome. A big upgrade from what I have, and each shave is becoming more enjoyable. I'm excited to see what the level one OC does with a sharper blade (Persona blues)!
