Monsgeek M1, Cherry silent reds, and Dark gray and black Tai hao

It’s my 1st build so I wasn’t sure what I liked. Not happy with the switches or the keycaps

Edit: I would like to thank everyone here r/MK you guys have a wealth of knowledge, and noobs like me would be lost without y’all.

I knew its a Monsgeek M1 since I also have one in white. I was also tempted to get red but I found it hard to match a keycap for it.

maybe its the angle of the picture but your arrow cluster looks odd.

nice looking board, it could definitely use some sexier keycaps though.

I like the actual board but I'm not a fan of the key caps. Also on the bottom row far right the key caps are on backwards. I'm also just getting into the mechanical keyboard mod world but I'm afraid to show my 1st build lol.

i would recommend something like an evil dolch or a gmk originative, or cyrillic with the red russian sublegends. great board though, i have one in purple.

It's all preference the arrow keys bother me and I personally don't like two-tone grey keycaps (pure white would probably look cleaner).

But yea it looks nice!

I thought I would like quieter switches, turns out I do not lol and the keycaps are not what I was expecting, not sure why.

I’ve realized I can research caps, switches, boards till I’m blue in the face, but until I try more stuff to build out a preference I don’t really know what I like

Ohhh very interesting color for first keyboard! Burgundy is a though one to match, but I was surprised when I pair my Maroon Lulu (Burgundy top with yellow bottom) with IFK Morse. Those caps are pretty standard, and will server you well along the way, when you get a board but you are still waiting on keycaps, so appreciate them for what they are.

In regard to switches, yeah, my wife loves Cherry Pinks, so I lubed and filmed them for her, but I feel them mushy and non-satisfactory to type on them. To each their own though!

The normies just don't understand, but we do... Lol. Amazing build.

It won't be a perfect match in any case, so I'd argue that the case being considerably darker is a good thing because there's a bit of distance between the colors and because it looks similar to a shadow. A case that's brighter than the keycaps would look a bit jarring with similar tones.

I dig it! You made a nice board there imo! How was the build? Did you mod anything? Is the rotary knob life changing?

Well.. you have found your people. We love the keebs. Cool build! Btw, not sure if you know but your arrow keys are upside down. I know that given their profile it seems a bit strange to put them in the other way but that is indeed how they are "supposed" to go.

I actually personally love this build. Sleek, clean design still with RGB. Also I just wanna add that’s a lovely board by its self, everything else IMO complimented it, Well done sir.

Literally just built this same board today using gateron milky yellows and drop dcx black on white keycaps. This is my first build as well.

Love the case. I'm not an expert in color theory by any means, but given the deep rich crimson color, you might want to consider a keycap set with modifiers that are lighter than the letter and numbers. That way you have a contrast of dark/light/dark.

Also, you can play around with swapping out the encoder knob. Take a look at guitar knobs - there are a number of cool options under $10. You'll want to check the encoder shaft size, but 6mm inner diameter knobs are usually a safe choice. Make sure you check the outer diameter - I'm eyeballing it, but 12-15mm would be the max you could get into the recessed area.
