Does this mean you have to order 6 to get free shipping? I just ordered a 1u and a Spacebar and it charged shipping. Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

3

jellykey OP t1_jd2ysb4 wrote

Yes. 6 keycaps or 3 spacebar's for free shipping

Okay, thanks.

Blake_S2k t1_jd7r4p1 wrote

Once you see the price of all that you'll laugh. The shipping cost isn't even like 1/4 of the price of one key lol. I did however order a spacebar and an ESC key for a whopping $170.

Flight2039Down t1_jd7s4ai wrote

Did the same. Ugh $$$

It's a knife to the chest but it will be worth it. These are such cool pieces. Idc how long it takes for it to arrive to me.

I just recently got a key cap I ordered back in January and I will at least provide my experience, which was very positive. I ordered mid January, got informed mid February that it was being sent for processing within ten days. I misunderstood what this meant and reached out to the jelly key team who was very quick to respond and then individually followed up with me when I they had received my tracking number. The package arrived in a very unique package that is sitting on my desk as a display with a cool coin. All in all very positive experience and I love the design.

My one complaint, I have a blue themed key board / desk setup and my cap is red. I do wish I could have at least selected the color I would like.

Hey, you all said in your GB thread for the galaxy thieves retro TV series that you expected them to ship 90 days after the groupbuy. Here's the quote: "Thí GB expect to ship after GB close 90 days" and link to the comment itself directly: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/ymzxgy/jelly_key_retro_tv_series_galaxy_thieves_groupbuy/iv71ua5/

It's been well over 90 days now since that GB closed and all I see is that the keycaps are "cooking." What's the ETA on those now?

Edit: Why are there so many JellyKey employees brigading these threads and downvoting any legitimate criticism of their stated timelines and failures to hit them?

Edit 2: okay, I went overboard saying it’s JK employees downvoting. My bad on that. This was highly downvoted though for the first hour or so

SilentStream t1_jd4fi43 wrote

Sorry about that. Edited my comment again. Just wish you’d answer the Q about timelines and stop setting unrealistic expectations. Pro tip for satisfied customers, under promise and over deliver

I said before in this post: "We add more than three artists for casting jobs. Easy to have more labours but so hard to find more artists; that's why we don’t open new GB regularly like before." <== That is how I improve time for a little delay.

And 90 days is my expected time, but hard GB will delay a lot because we are casting all, some artists don't like me, they make errors, and so hard to finish one with no problem, we open new GB and no-resell them, so every new GB is a new challenge (more detail, effect and another type casting way), it not like my expected before, I think in my head is 60 days, and write for my content guy 90 days but the reality it is lower than my think, you know: I made prototype by myself and I think people will fast like me (my bad). You know, we are a really small team, not a big company like some other team, we have problems and we try to improve it, we don't need to lie or tricky, that's why I always allow people to refund when they are not happy and sorry with that, I added 3 guys for casting jobs, I hope everything is better and I hope you can understand for me, my bad English.

EmceeMeow t1_jd0fru8 wrote

I think the downvotes are an easy way for them to bury any comments about the wait down at the bottom. Upvoted you. It's a legit question.

I honestly don't have an issue with the wait, I just want them to be honest about it up front. This was my very first artisan keycap I've ever purchased and I'm still waiting on it nearly a year later.

20

asimplerandom t1_jd1mc6e wrote

Wow…I’ve been tempted to buy from them on many of the recent artisan keycaps but based on this I don’t think I will.

My guy I bought Coral oases keycaps and the groupbuy ended late july/early aug 2022. It said shipping time november 2022 and they finally shipped less than a week ago. 4 month delay.

Im never buying from them again seeing as they have no guarantee. And yes I know theyre handmade etc but dont promise customers something you cant keep. This isnt an isolated incident. Its very common they get delayed. I guess the same thing can be said about GMK keycaps too but people still buy them anyway.

Why do you assume people are employees?

Honestly fam if you dont like gbs taking longer than stated then just dont join GBs.

4

jellykey OP t1_jczr6ek wrote

We are still working in that GB. You can check groupbuy process at: https://www.jellykey.com/support

−16

SilentStream t1_jczsseh wrote

That's not an answer though. Why tell people you expect shipments in 90 days after the GB ends when you had no way to hit that target? You've run multiple raffles and GBs since Retro TV Galaxy Thieves closed, so it's clear you're oversubscribed and using GBs to pull in more funds while not delivering in a timely fashion.

21

CorporealGhoul t1_jd1spdu wrote

I dont think you know whats going on. Dont pretend its clear.

Edit: Look... i too once had 2 GBs "cooking" with JellyKeys. And i too got upset when i saw new GBs come out before mine finished. I was even more upset when i realized i wanted to keep joining GBs but as time went on kwpt wondering where my stuff is. Im not going to keep joining GBs if theyre not going to send me anything.

So i let a GB go by that i wanted.

Then my retro tv showed up and i was blown away. Then not long later my 8bit backspace showed up.

Now im full team jellykeys. Their stuff is insane. And they are constantly doing weekly raffles while still producing their GBs. This isnt something to be upset about. Your GB is coming. I promise you when you get yours youll wish you werent hating on them before. Yes it sucks when a GB is delayed. But frankly thats the nature of a GB. Sometimes deadlines get hit, often times not. If youre not okay waiting it sounds like crowd funded projects arent your thing. Preorders are your thing because the product is mostly finished and doesnt need your money to be finished. Thats not true for a GB. If you dont like that concept then stick to preorder and in stock products.

2

vexii t1_jd2dlv4 wrote

the problem is not the time. it's about being honest about it. i just got my keys from January 2022 that's 13 Months for sometime than should have been 6 months. good that you like the caps, but that's not what we are talking about

3

SilentStream t1_jd4fq7e wrote

Exactly. I know how GBs work. They set bad expectations on delivery times and should stop doing that. Over promise, under deliver

1

jellykey OP t1_jczt7nh wrote

You can see we shipped some GB and all raffle in time. Some complex design take more time than my expected

−12

SilentStream t1_jd0jdcn wrote

Okay I just ask then that you don't say you expect 90 day shipments. Please be more realistic in your timelines.

Blake_S2k t1_jd0hr7v wrote

No offence bud but I don't think you know the first thing about a buisness like this, especially of this caliber, and the amount of man hours put into each and every detail per piece. These are one off unique pieces, literally art, things happen, life happens, you literally can't rush perfection. It's impossible to always meet expectations and promises. Who cares how long it takes to get it as long as you do end up getting it?? He's not cashing out on vacation and shipping them when he gets back lol. These things go around the world and then some. Being "oversubscribed" as you say is a great thing for him if it's true. I hope he is "oversubscribed" because these aren't streamline assembly line productions lol.

In the end it's simple. Man up and wait for it to show up or don't join Group Buys. I've spent way WAY more money than I just did ($170) on these caps and had to wait much longer than the alloted time given. It's life. You'll live, or cry....

−19

believe0101 t1_jd0qgu0 wrote

I fundamentally disagree with the premise of your comment. Consumers have a right to fair and realistic expectations from the people selling them goods and services. Banal platitudes like "you can't rush art" and "man up" can't be offered up in place of actual customer service.

14

CorporealGhoul t1_jd1sgrj wrote

Not group buy goods and services fam. Its in the fine print. Dont like it dont join a fucking group buy and go buy in stock parts.

Also they arent even an american company. So good luck trying to leverage anything against them. Again, dont like it dont join the gb.

why should they not be held responsible for there claims? they could just not give a shipping date, but i guess some people would be uncomfortable with joining a GB with no time frame. but intentionally lieing is worse

2

EmceeMeow t1_jd0ewga wrote

I first purchased June 9th of last year. My impression is that some of the group buys are finished faster, but the 8-bit series is slower to make.

I can share more info once I get my caps delivered, but Jelly Key is basically supposed to be the pinnacle of keycap artistry. I'm not aware of any platform that produces at a similar standard.

2

jellykey OP t1_jcz4i67 wrote

Yes. Not all GB, but these GB with hard to complete will delay, because we have to casting all layer, all colors one by one, not 3D printer. You can see at our post. I hope you can understand for us. <3

6

jellykey OP t1_jd014j8 wrote

It is a group buy, We ran this type of sale some years ago (2015), And I always do my duty, change or refund. If the customer request, we change them one by one and cover 2-way shipping when the keycap has a problem. Many teams in this hobby run their business like this. I hope you can understand for us.

slinkous t1_jd1z85z wrote

While that works for larger companies with a lot of spare cash (and those companies should do it), smaller companies or individuals don’t have the ability to do so. This way they can scale the manufacturing order off the group buy, and not end up with a bunch of debt and products that didn’t sell.

1

vexii t1_jd2e5ng wrote

the why don't you change the shipping to reflect that?

2

CorporealGhoul t1_jd23igk wrote

Retro tv disco took 8 months. I got it December 2022.

8bit neon took 6 months. I got it January 2023.

Retro tv galaxy was ordered November 2022. Still "cooking".

And ill be buying nearly $250 worth in caps this GB to get an Esc, Enter, and Spacebar.

Why? Because JellyKeys has proven they will finish GBs and they will look amazing. Art takes time. As an artist i understand this. And i know rushing it will only result in an inferior product.

I will always support artists taking time to perfect their product verse trying to push out higher quantities.

P.S. After i saw how great the first 2 sets were I ordered 2 of the retro tv galaxies and a spaceman stand. I wouldnt spend money like this with any other artisan company aside from maybe Dwarf Factory.

Blake_S2k t1_jd3r01z wrote

Exactly. I've learned you can't rush perfection and these are TINY HAND PAINTED details lol. I understand people are upset over seeing 90 days after the GB ends but man...
