Thanks for the input, definitely leaning towards the tofu now, just need to pick a plate, any recommendations?

I prefer PC or POM, but it depends on how soft/firm you like for feel and what sorta sound you like.

PC is softest and ideal for low pitched sounds, aluminum is hardest and ideal for higher pitched sounds. POM is very similar to PC but a good choice for a creamy sounds. FR4 is between POM and aluminum for feel with a good middling sound profile for marbley or poppy sounds.
