Hey y’all! I’m looking at some keyboard bases and I’ve kinda settled on one but I want to hear what y’all use the knobs on keyboard for? I thought about getting a board with a knob for volume control but the speakers I got have an independent volume control knob so idk what else I could use the knob for. At this point would a volume knob be just for aesthetics?

I would just make a separate macropad myself with a knob.

Planning on making a 5KNOB, macropad/volume center for my pc, in the upcoming days.

I have to use a Mac for work and there are buttons for screen brightness built into the keyboard. I debated mapping brightness to the knob on my personal board instead of volume because I work in visual arts and design, but ultimately decided on volume being more important. That could be fun if you don't need volume on your board though!

I don't have any use for a knob on my keyboard.

My speakers, and my headset, each have their own dedicated knobs for volume.
They also have controls for other functions, which would not be easily mimicked by a keyboard knob.
My headset, for example, has a mix knob that allows me to raise/lower the relative volumes of the in-game audio, and voice chat.

knob is a nice touch. great if it can sit at the corner of the board. but if you are getting a TKL and the knob sits where the F13 key is, it probably might feel a little out of place when you want to turn the volume up/down.

I programmed the knob to zoom in and out when turned and to reset zoom when pressed. Works like a charm with macOS.

You can still use the knob for volume, just set the volume on your speaker to max, or in the middle thats what I do since I hate reaching for the speaker knob

Currently, I have my computer volume at max and then control the speaker volume with the wireless remote/knob it came with. Not too much of a hassle at the moment since most things can stay at the relatively same volume
