The only reason would be if you buy a outemu/redragon board, since that one uses different size pins for the switches

some pcbs dont support certain layout on hotswap kbs . i prefer to mil max over hotswap as mil max lasts forever regualr hotswap only support about 100 swap or less

Kailh hot swap sockets are rated for 100 so-called cycles, while Mill Max Hot Swap Sockets are rated for 1000 cycles.
