I have been getting into this hobby, is it really that desperate to get key caps you want?

I mean, I wanted to get GMK Nightshade for few weeks now (Because I am a sucker for violet color), I saw that it was bound to be shipped on November 2022, so I thought I'd wait... It got delayed to late Q1 2023. Another one I saw was also delayed like that or had shipping after 6-7 months.

I mean, is it always like this? I want those juicy lookin key caps but it seems they are almost always out of stock. Which made me think if I could utilize on this and make my own key caps/business for them with good shipping times /jk

That’s part of the hobby. Hunting for that perfect setup, waiting for group buys or someone selling their stuff because nothing’s in stock…

You fell in love with keycaps in production and will be released later. I fell in love with keycaps that sold out our 2 years go.

As for me, I moved on and went on to get other keycaps. Should it happen to you in the future, I think you will be able to find something else once you accept it is gone

GMK Nightshade hasn’t shipped yet so you’ll be able to grab extras once they go live and after the group buy participant receive their order. So I wouldn’t worry too much. When the extras are sold out across all vendors then unfortunately their wont be any more stock. If that’s the case then you’ll have to search the aftermarket or hope the best for a second round by the designer and vendor.

I don’t think you’d be able to manu keycaps and deliver them in a timely matter. Closest one I can think of is pbtfans, but it’s not really a GMK competitor.
