its a standard for pre-built/budget boards, but boards that are $100 and up are most likely going to be south facing

I think so, but I'm seeing a trend now for south facing One of the projects I'm waiting for just randomly did redesign for them to face South. Other than my GMMK pro all my other boards have them north. I personally don't have a preference since I don't care much for LED.
