Who the heck is flaming goat? Haha, a theremin is a musical instrument, not to be confused with thermite.

Would filming help with stem wobble?

From what I hear from streamers and on Reddit (not first hand experience since I'm a switch modding noob), filming only mitigates housing wobble, which doesn't have any impact on stem wobble.

Gotcha! I’m not much better than what you call yourself, so I don’t know much about filming. Thanks!

It possibly will but

I have Teccsee Giant V5’s which I filmed and that didn’t help because the top housings don’t really fit the films very well and I hate how wobbly they are

I bought the Minks already and then read the review afterwards stupidly

MM switch is manufactured by JWK, which has different tolerances than Gateron. A Gateron stem is bigger than a JWK stem. So a JWK stem will almost always be wobbly in a Gateron top housing, and a Gateron stem will almost never fit in a JWK top housing.

So they were wobbly before or after you swapped the stems?

I do not have experience with these switches specifically, but I have noticed that switches with a boxed stem, such as the Kailh Box switches, have practically no stem wobble. I'm a sloppy typist and I never realized how often I smear across the top of the switch until I built out a keyboard with box Navies. On that thing your fingers gotta move strait up and down with purpose.

If you've been in the hobby long enough to have used Outemu Sky 2.2 tactiles, then stem wobble is no longer an issue for you. With any switch. I see a Gateron logo... There's literally zero chance, AND I MEAN ZERO, despite what any reviewer says or thinks, that those switches have bad stem wobble. Compared to a Sky switch... stem wobble does not exist. Let alone in a new Gateron switch. Just ridiculous. People's standards are way too high these days.

Well that’s where our experiences completely differ because it makes a huge difference to me

I have Tecsee Giant V5’s and HATE them specifically because of the stem wobble. Everything else is great, super smooth, sound good but the wobble is horrible and filming didn’t help at all. Each press feels uneasy, loose and not in the least bit satisfying.

In comparison I have Thic Thock marshmallows with tight tolerances which are night and day difference, they are a sure, solid and an absolute pleasure to type on.

You may not be able to tell the difference but I certainly can and it gives me a totally different typing experience

The whole point of this hobby is to have choices and preference, to dial in our favourite things so I don’t think people’s standards are too high at all, especially with how much it all costs

Not a fair comparison, Tecsee are mostly crap. I meant for Gateron, any reviewer saying a Gateron switch has wobble is only comparing tiny differences to other nice switches. All I was really trying to say is that decent switches are all super close to the level that you wouldn't call any of them bad, compared to truly wobbly switches like your Tecsee linears or my Outemu Skys.
