Why would it be useless? There's tons of great people regularly helping newcomers.

Huh? No? Most of time questions go unanswered and just get downvoted. Right now people are helping a lot because there was a post talking about how it was useless and was pointing out the elitism in this sub.

The main reason questions probably go unanswered is there are a lot of really specific niche questions - the same questions would go unanswered as posts too

At least the megathread keeps the subreddit organized and gives a central place to ask and answer questions

This.

People helping out in the questions thread aren't certified keyboard professionals that know everything. We're just enthusiasts like yourself that take the time out of our day to help out new people in the community.

Do you seriously believe this?

Are you vaguely aware of how exhausting it is to go to the thread, every day, trying to help people who often ask bad questions, questions that can be found in google/sub search, or questions that have nothing to do with the sub, still trying to help them, and often getting rude answers or not even a thank you?

That’s interesting, and a little sad, because it discourages people from commenting—even if it is just one downvote.

I often wonder if it’s a bot or just someone so angry about the state of mechanical keyboards these days that they go in every day and downvote everything.
