This is a problem. Spending absurd amounts of money on things you don't even use isn't a hobby, it's a problem.

Nah I disagree. Over 10 years of building keyboards and you only get to build them once, then they’re built. I’ve also built at least 4 different full sound systems that are in my loft, maybe 50 odd guitar stomp boxes and a handful of synths. just like building electronics.

If that's what you tell yourself to justify the ungoldy amounts of money you spend and never use, by all means go for it but it's still a problem.

Hahaha - you actually reckon it’s that much? Like - it’s a literally fraction of the money I’ve spent owning a car, or paying my mortgage. And it’s over about 12 years. I think on keyboards I spend maybe £1k a year. At least half the picture is junk from China - I don’t really have many expensive single boards.

If I went on mastermind my specialist subject would be cherry. I also have 40+ vintage cherry boards, Keysets and the like.

My drug problem is a problem 🤣 not building keyboards in my leisure time because I like building keyboards.

I do use all these boards and I cycle my work keyboard. They’re all similar switches and tuned the same…..because that’s what I like. 😁

It is in our nature to collect things. There are people that collect guitars, cars, legos, card games, designer bags, and the list goes on. There is nothing wrong with spending money on the things you want to spend your money on.

The only problem here is you being concerned with how a totally random person on the internet spends their money.

And consider how niche mech boards are. If OP was some rich person who just wanted to show off to everyone that he/she is rich, there would probably be 1-2 extremely expensive boards. For someone to want to own this many, let alone BUILD the boards (which takes hours per board, mind you), it is absolutely a hobby for them.
