From my experience, you'll be so used to the Backspace key location soon, you'll find yourself typing endless strings of Backslashes, every time you use someone else's keyboard.

The deeper you go into that, the worse it gets.
The most annoying one for me is when I try to use my pop-up arrow cluster, on IJKL.
I can't tell you how many "I" and "K" characters I've typed, trying to hit the Up and Down Arrows.

Yep! I'm currently switching between a regular 65% and this one, which is really not helping. I do feel I need to re-map the arrow keys but I'm going to preserver - it's only been a few hours...

I've always viewed programmability as an "in addition to" feature, rather than being "in place of".

For example, I actually have FOUR sets of arrows, on my 1800s.
I map WASD, IJKL and Num8/4/5/6 as layered arrow clusters, in addition to the dedicated arrow keys, to minimize hand movements.

That's a fair point - I haven't run up VIA yet and I do want to give the default/native layout a fair crack first.

The "native layout" on a real HHKB has the arrows mapped to HJKL.

They may already be mapped on your board, if Drop mimicked that layout precisely.

No, they're mapped to [;' and / in this case. ASD are mapped to volume controls and KL are Home and Page Up respectively.

You can try what I have, which arrow keys mapped to P, L, ;, and ', which will allow you to use the same arrow key muscle memory with the only addition being holding your pinky down on the Fn key next to RShift.

You're right.
I always thought they were mapped to VIM standards by default, but they're not.
