This looks epic! I wanna get a 40% ortho soon after learning how to use an ortho and forgetting how to use staggered xD
I assume the case is 3D printed?

Yep. It’s 3D printed, my 3rd version of the case is currently printing because I noticed an issue

You can start with the ID75 from Amazon. And then just start disabling keys on it to get down to 40%

The BM40 is a good way to go if you're ok with the 2u spacebar layout. It's a great keyboard that can be built for not a lot of money and can be used with QMK or VIA. There's a few options for aluminum cases from KP Republic and you can print something if you want to go that route.
