For tactile, I'd say akko cs lavenders. Idk how they are prelubed.

OhShitBye t1_j27e5o6 wrote

Their factory lubing is ass tbh. They're hella loud so they need a fair amount of krytox because tribosys didn't do shit. But after krytox they're smooth as silk while still retaining a nice chunky tactility assuming you avoided the legs. Plus they sound like the building sound from the Lego games, which is great.

ClinTrojan t1_j27qwi0 wrote

I like the Akko cream blues. Haven't tried lavenders.

Ajazz kiwi is pretty good too, but for the price I prefer the cream blues.

I got the lavender purples(tactile) for my first build, and am excited to try them out. I do know that you can get some of their cs switches pre-lubed and for pretty cheap as well.

zombbeans t1_j25vpo6 wrote

The Lavender Purples are probably similar, but I loved the Jelly Purples on my first build. They were very nice - I have since upgraded to a larger bump that I prefer, but I would recommend Akko switches to anyone.

Akko jelly blues are nice and would go well with your aesthetic. I think a box of 45 is under 15$ on Amazon.

Do yourself a big favor, save your money for now, and attend a keyboard meetup in your area.
Try out all the different switches you can find, decide which ones you really like, then save up to buy THOSE switches.
If those switches end up being cheap, that's great.
Even if they don't, you'll end up much happier in the long run.

Switches are the one area you don't want to skimp on.
They are what links you to the keyboard, and they provide the majority of your "experience", while using the board.
I will take good switches, with a cheap case and keycaps, over a good quality board with cheap switches, every time.

They make that big a difference.

This is a good keyboard however watch out for the hot swap dying or breaking off. This happened to me twice. Same brand. Two different boards.

1

retrospacive t1_j243n3y wrote

Yeah something that helps is holding the back of the pcb, basically the socket, while inserting the switch :) that decreases the chances but you have to take the board apart. Which I suggest putting something in there because sound is hollow

NEXYR_ t1_j242dx1 wrote

Definitely gateron milky yellow ( pro if u don't want to lube yourself but it's gonna be a little worse than if you lube them yourself )

Yeeteroof420 OP t1_j242ns0 wrote

Thank you for all the suggestions! They were all very good, but I don't need switch advice anymore because I have decided on gateron milky clears, but milky yellows are a good option, in my opinion.

Gateron Pro Yellows if you like linears.

StrawberryMoney t1_j24dqnw wrote

Kailh switches are usually pretty affordable. I like box royals for a nice tactile bump, and hako violets for a crispy, barely tactile but definitely not linear experience.

For a smooth linear feel, you can't go wrong with Gateron blacks or yellows.

Anything Haimu makes, including the WS (wuque studio) switches

Amazing switches, I think the only downside may be slight-inconsistent lube but I've been using the Haimu Heartbeat switches (silent linear) and they are dead silent and feel beautiful

I have some more on the way since they are so well priced

Where’s you get the keycaps?

From a website called eMAG, but I think it's romanian only. Just search "Keychron mint green keycaps" on google and they should pop up.

MikeyFromDaReddit t1_j28pact wrote

I put in Durock Ti tactile in mine and I love it. I didn't even lube. I left my number keys cheap stock reds but lubed with homemade lube and they work well. I'm going to replace the spring with a slow spring with more initial pressure needed to activate. I couldn't type on the cheap reds that came with the board. It felt like pressing on air. If i ever try better linear switched in the future I will use a slow spring with heavier onset.

2

Yeeteroof420 OP t1_j28pg6p wrote

Nice! You mentioned homemade lube, how did you make it? Or did I understand wrong?

1

MikeyFromDaReddit t1_j28pttc wrote

homemade = I used cooking oil + tooth pick to apply.
(Not suggested by the pros here, but it has held up)
In the future, I will use real lube, but I wanted results that day!
Oddly, it improved those cheap stock reds so much.

Order diff switch type tactile/linear and then decide what you like the most. Unless you already know.

I would go for gathering milky yellows. They are super smooth and nice but pretty cheap. Only annoying thing is shipping is sometimes super expensive depending on where you live, I live in Australia and one time I tried ordering some and the shipping was $90 so of course I didn’t order, which was pretty annoying

OhShitBye t1_j27d4bp wrote

Gateron yellow pro 2.0 or leobog graywood v2 and above pretty much don't need to be lubed. They don't have cherry interference either.

But imo the best sounding budget linear is the akko rose red. Definitely benefits from lubing but not filming.

Tactiles you can grab some akko cs lavenders for poppy full sound, but they need a fair amount of krytox (avoiding the legs) to not sound like a machine gun. After that though they're nice and medium sounding, super poppy and crisp. The way I'd describe them is the Lego building sound from the Lego games. These are by far my favourite. For more flat but softer sound the jelly purples with krytox will fit that bill. Besides these I haven't found any tactiles that do it for me.
