The answer is layers. You have keys to switch to layers where you have symbols, navigation keys and in my case even mouse keys

Under a layer. Not complicated after you get used to it. All oart of learning new muscle memory.

The numbers are wherever you want them to be, I have mino on the Q row, some people prefer a number pad orientation, whatever suits you workflow. I find it a lot easier to push down a key with my thumb and do the number clores to the home row that using a dedicated number row.
