Thanks dude, hopefully it's an easy fix. I just haven't wanted to deal with it yet. Lol

Perfect starting keyboard. YouTube has lots of simple mods you can accomplish with this to improve typing feel and sound. I know a force mod is popular with this keyboard to improve the quality of the sound, but it’s not necessary. Mods aren’t necessary but fun to do, I’d at least recommend tape mod on the pcb and replacing the stabilizers if possible. If you want to try out red linear switches, I recommend that you instead look at gateron milky yellows as your first linear switch:) budget friendly and extremely smooth. they’re amazing, they’re very popular on here as a great budget linear switch!

Awesome, I'll check them out. I have a buddy who has a switch tester and I found I was kind of partial to the tactile ones, but a sample on a switched I'm sure is very different from day to day use.

What little I've been able to use of it has been great. I hooked it up to my phone so I could use it to message a few people and I really enjoyed typing with it. I got the brown switches with it because I like the tactile feel, but I think the linears (red switches I think) are really popular too.

I also did a bunch of research in addition to talking to a buddy who's super into mechanical keyboards, and the general consensus seemed to be that this was an excellent starting place.

I removed the foam inside and added some dybamat /acoustic film at the bottom plus tape behind the pcb. Sounds better than my q series (deeper)

What exactly did your computer do?

FxHVivious OP t1_j22gl8e wrote

Microsoft update bricked it

Avaocado_32 t1_j2388qs wrote

can’t you just replace the ssd

1

FxHVivious OP t1_j25aos0 wrote

The SSD might not even be bad. The update could have just fucking something up on the OS. If that's that's the case I may be able to just do a system restore, but I have stuff on their I don't want to lose, including some work I hadn't committed to GitHub yet. So I need to pull the drive and hook it up to another computer to see if anything is salvageable.

Lol. You Linux boys never quit

I gotta figure out what's wrong with the damn thing. Funny enough I think it might be a Microsoft update problem. Super pissed too because I had stuff I hadn't pushed to GitHub yet.

It’s a curse :D

I’m just messing with you tho. It’s just second nature for me to say that now lol. It does suck that a Windows update bricked your machine, and I hope you’re able to get it sorted out and get to use your new keyboard :)

I get it, I use Linux for work and it has a lot of great points. I just can't make the jump on my personal machine. Did install WSL though.
