Lovely tool, I wish I had bought one much sooner than I did. Would have saved so much time that I spent desoldering with braid and cheap solder suckers, it made projects that used to take an entire afternoon of work take 15 minutes. My advice though would be to get extra tips, cleaning pins, and ceramic filters. Depending on how much rework you do, you could go through them like water. Also, the little mini drill in a pin vise that Hakko sells is useful for clearing really stubborn nozzles.

Yup, just had the pain of doing it manually working on my latest build (with millmax no less) and i am absolutely glad to have one starting today as well

I could use some of those things. Are they official extras or where would I look for that?

Yes, they are all Hakko products and here are the part numbers:

The nozzle that comes with the FR-301 is N61-08 (it has a 1.0mm opening).

The cleaning pin for that nozzle (1.0mm) is B1087.

The drill cleaner is B1303 for 1.0mm nozzles.

The ceramic filters are A5044 (in a ten pack).

The FR-301 uses the N61 series nozzles and there are many to choose from, see Hakko's website for more, but the N61-08 is probably the most popular.

So far, I've gotten all of these parts from Amazon, but I'm sure there are plenty of other vendors that have them including from Hakko directly.

I would recommend getting a 888-001 Cleaning Drill. I found it quite useful the times mine got clogged. Most of my clogs are at the opening of the solder holder tube thing.

You are a legend I'll have to buy these (I didn't buy the fr-301, too poor for that)

Any tips on how to use it? I've heard you just don't "use it" you have to research how to use it first. Haven't tried it yet as it's freezing outside

My ss-02 tip broke almost immediately and replacements are stupid expensive.
