The stitching is very flat, like 1mm above the surface.

I assume that stitching just irritates your skin?

Yes, and it's also probably stiffer. Used to have carpal tunnel like symptoms until I moved to 5mm soft padding and don't want to give up on that. 4mm is already quite close, but would have given it a shot ;)
