There are similar ones on AliExpress, although they're not quite as nice. The search is kind of broken though, so you might be looking for a while. Maybe search for "usb connector shell" or something similar.

thanks Ill take a look. I usually like straight cables with aviator or LEMO connectors the most so those would add a bit more character to those cables haha.

Yeah, I've also considered getting them, but haven't gotten myself to spend the extra money on them or LEMO connectors yet, so it's only been the regular shrink-wrapped usb c connectors and gx12s for me so far lol Though I did get some electroplated aviator connectors from AliExpress and they were nicer than expected

It depends what type, and how they are fitted. You also need to lock the USB connector in with glue, so how good it is depends on who made the cable and what they used. I use 2 part epoxy. mine are effectively solid state. I've seen others that just use some cheap glue, so it very much depends on who makes the cable.

They are usually fixed with a small indent/pin and a screw holding onto the cable sleeve. Not very secure just as that. Add some 2K epoxy filling onto all that and it's never ever going anywhere

As a camera operator and someone who makes cables for film, I have a drawer full or random Lemo connectors from 0B to 2B sizes and different PIN numbers. It’s fun.
