And boy am I glad I did it. I wasn't expecting the weight it's got - feels more premium than any other keyboard I've used!
Right now it's got Gateron browns, but I've also got some extra Keychron K Pro browns and Gateron G Pro browns (included with the board since I got it on eBay).
I'm gonna give it a shot with these three sets of switches, but I think my next step will be foam and/or tape modding, and finding a new set of keycaps. If I get lucky I'll find the iqunix hitchhiker set for a little cheaper on eBay, or I might custom design a Buzz Lightyear themed set like I saw hipyotech do on YouTube.
I'd love to hear y'all's recs for mods, macros, or anything else!

Brown switch family is good and all, but you can also consider trying other budget tactile switches with a higher activation point (you feel the bump when you start pressing the key). Akko CS Lavender and Akko V3 Cream Blues are cool alternatives if you want to try something a bit different without breaking the bank.

How are the creams? I have brown as well and thought about getting them but was worried they would be too light of a switch for me, like with accidental presses and things of that nature.

It’s amazing! I compare them to Blueish whites but their a bit more pingy.

Love bluish whites, don't seen them mentioned too much but they feel so good to me

They take a bit of getting used to from the browns, as the actuation force jump is somewhat big so your gonna have to use more energy when pressing the keys, but after awhile they feel will feel and sound premium, highly suggest giving them a shot

I personally like them. Akko V3 Cream Blues feel like smoother Lavender, I did not lube mine. Cream Yellows are also good , quite smooth stock but not the smoothest (I.e. my KTT Strawberry are way smoother), still I’d choose them over Gateron Yellow G Pro 2.0.
Both have a distinctive “marbly” sound that differentiate from the rest of Akko switches.

If I were to get one would you recommend lunes lavenders or stock cream blues?

Stock Creams feel smoother than stock CS Lavender and they are even a bit cheaper. I’d go with Cream Blues. I’ve not tried lubed lavenders yet (only stock) so I don’t know if live is a game changer here.

Nice! Ok thanks! I’m waiting on Boba U4ts to come in and I’m itching to try another switch lol

I understand U4Ts are top tier, you’ll need something with its own well defined “character” to really find something different and satisfying.
Maybe you can check linear ones like KTT Strawberry, they are quite good and smooth.

Yeah I’m relatively new to mechanical switches, used some gateron blues on a gaming keyboard for years so I’ve never used/tried linear much but that’s because I didn’t like the emptyness of the press.

I used to think the same, but with the right setup (keys, plate, case) they can be quite satisfying. I abandoned clicky ones though 😅
Have fun exploring the hobby, it’s all about the journey :-)

Nice! Well I appreciate the insight!

Welcome to the K8 pro club.
It doesnt have room for a Foam mod since theres a really thick silicone pad inside. You can try tape modding but Ive done it and didnt notice a difference tbh. The Gateron pro browns and the default keycaps are also really good and unless you want to want to spend money on minimal gains you should keep them. I swapped out for Boba u4t switches and theyre good but not experience changing good. I swapped out the keycaps and ended up going back to the stock. You should do whatever you feel like though.

The seller on ebay included the Keychron switches so I swapped them out and I like the sound a little better, at least at first impression. We'll see if that lasts. The keycaps may be more for aesthetic than sound, tbh, but I'll keep that in mind!
