Looks awesome I can’t wait to receive mine. Are those the caps that it came with? I’m just looking at the bottom left ctrl and it just appears too small? Might just be me. Either way! Awesome job

Yeah those are the caps it came with! I just liked the smaller CTRL but it has a large one. The smaller one makes the light bleed out more which I like for that cool corner lighting effect haha.

Ah okay, good to know, I was a little concerned for when I receive mine. But knowing it’s an asthmatic choice makes me feel better. How do you like typing on it? I just received my melgeek pixel and it’s tough to type on.

I was looking at this kit too, how’re you liking it? Also, are they Lego copy pieces? Like would swapping out pieces for other colors work on the case?

The bricks are LEGO-compatible clones. There's a parts list out there for those that want to build it from real LEGO

I just finished building mine, and I have a few ... "problem" switches, meaning it takes way too much pressure to activate. Did you experience this at all?

I have this issue! Did you end up resolving it? It seems that 1/3 of my keys require excessive force.

I'm having this issue too. I was on the verge of taking it all apart to see if I made a mistake in the build.

Yeah, I tore the board apart and got down to the pcb and switches being mounted together. I literally picked it up. And pressed each switch into the pcb to seat it. It’s perfect now you do need to confirm each switch is fully inserted into the pcb, good luck!

No, I have not, and I am getting a little annoyed. Take a look at THIS. I contacted their support and they replied one time last week with:

> "Can you try to adjust the metal contact to allow the pin inserting?"

Which I tried a little but cannot without damaging the board ... I believe. I have email'd them three times since their initial response and they have not responded to me. At this point, I am going to start advising against ordering from KBDcraft.

I’m sorry to hear, mine was simply pressing the contacts in further. I will say I am very disappointed as I didn’t get the brick that is supposed to be under the usb cord and they responded by saying they knew that kits were missing it but it was fine. So now I need to pay to source one brick because they don’t care, very disappointing.

Yes I did but I ended up pressing the switches down harder into the board and it seemed to have fixed it.

Nice, and congrats on your first!

This sub was helpful because I damaged the switches when putting this keyboard together and I asked for help here and was told i could straighten it with tweezers haha.

grimm343 t1_j5i3q91 wrote

Haha, I'm glad it was all straightened out /j

I ended up on GeekHack my first time thinking I damaged a trace since seven keys suddenly wouldn't work after soldering. Turns out I either overtightened the screw-in stabilizers or caused a short since I was using squares of electrical tape rather than fiber washers for insulation.

Hope you really enjoy yours!

Every time I see this kit, I just think that (please don't kill me) it looks super easy to build one with gaskets in mind.

But then I remember that I can't build anything with Legos unless I have an instruction book...

hansoo417 t1_j5wmdzo wrote

It's already gasket mounted

fffffffuuuuuuuuug t1_j5wr8ro wrote

Ohhh, u right.

I think whenever I see a pcb without a daughterboard, my dumb brain thinks "=/=gasket mount!"

Thanks for letting me know :00

I'm thinking of buying this board soon, did this require any programming at all or was it 'plug and play'?
