What do you think is the best album opener of all time? A track that captures your attention, blows you away, and then keeps you hungry for more for the rest of the album that follows it? The track that tells you "that's it, you're in for a great time."

I'll post mine shortly. I'm very interested to see what you guys select 👀

Came here to say this.

That opener set the scene for the rest of the (greatest ever) album (of all time).

I far prefer the acoustic Psycho Killer on Stop Making Sense to the original version on '77.

I remember listening to Dirt by AIC for the first time and hearing that “AH” from Layne on “Them Bones” followed by that riff; I was absolutely floored and listened to almost nothing but that album for a year straight

Sonic Youth has a knack for killer openers, like “Dirty Boots” and “Tom Violence”. But this one takes the cake.

Cherub Rock- Smashing Pumpkins on Siamese Dream

The intro builds, adding more elements and then it explodes into a beautiful wall of guitar fuzz, and you're off.

Korn - Blind

Perfect opening to a song and perfect song to open the album. So perfect they opened every concert that I’ve been to with it. Gets you amped and prepares you for the rest of the album/show.

Arrrre you reaaaddddy?

But... it is the closer!

That being said, I can't decide Baba O'Reilly (Teenage Wasteland) or the Overture from Tommy.

Honestly though, my vote goes to Elton John with Funeral For a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding.

Honorable mentions are: More than a Feeling, by Boston and Bat Outta Hell, by Meatloaf,

i went to a record release party for this album. the label set up a movie theater with an amazing sound system. the first notes started and our jaws dropped. we looked at each other, stopped what we were doing, sucked on our drinks, and listened to the album over and over until they kicked us out. so good.

Goodbye to Everything is the album's opening prelude that transitions into the first actual song Astral Body (Transition is at 1:39 in the video, and the slight skip you'll hear there is the youtuber's fault).

The song 'Where eagles dare' on the 'Piece of Mind' album of Iron Maiden. A hell of a way to introduce Nicko McBrain as the new drummer. He worked his ass off to follow the impeccable Clive Burr, as he should!

Great album too that marked a new era for Maiden.
