Bought Neil Young’s Harvest album when I was 12 in 1972 with first babysitting money. Still listen to him almost everyday.

Maiden is so lucky. They had Paul Dianno who was pretty decent, then replace him with Bruce who’s arguably the Luciano Pavarotti of metal.

I love how they bring all that NWOBHM attributes into their sound, and kept it going through the years.

I can't really say who's better between Paul and Bruce, they speak differently to my ears.

Edit: It took me 25 years and a lot of money but I finally own the first Iron Maiden 7"!

The Clash.

I rediscovered a lot of country artists as an adult that I loved as a kid. Johnny Cash, Dolly, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson. So technically they are all the artists I've listened to and loved the longest.

The Clash have held up so well.over the years for me, though. Loved them in high school, still do 40 years later..

R.E.M: They were the band that got me into music in the first place, and their influence is still felt now. Even earlier on, huge bands like Nirvana and Radiohead saw them as a strong influence, so in many ways R.E.M shaped a lot of alternative rock.

They were big for a time (biggest band on the planet at one stage), but their influence - I feel - goes underated.

Tame Impala

I remember first hearing about them back in high school in 2015 but not really understanding the name so I didn’t think much of them. Then later that year I heard “Eventually” for the first time and absolutely loved it. I then became friends with some people who were also fans of Tame Impala and they showed me Innerspeaker, Lonerism, and I just feel in love with the entire sound and vibes that came from it. I think Kevin Parker is a true genius at creating such fun psychedelic rock/pop of the modern era, and to this day Innerspeaker and Currents are two of my favorite albums of all time! There’s not one song that I don’t enjoy from the project and I’ve also seen Tame and the band 4 times since 2016 and I’m hoping I get to see them all for a 5th time whenever the time comes!

You know it might seem cliche but I can’t get away from Ozzy. It’s just so good. Especially the album he co-wrote with Lemmy.

The evolution through the years with different guitarists makes it super interesting to see how the sound matures.

I am understand that at the time it was released, it was considered cheesy shock rock, but the songwriting is impeccable. The lyrics still have meaning today.

The first time I heard The Cure's Lovesong in the back of my dad's car at 9 years old on Austin college radio, it has been stuck in my head. A few years later, the moment I had the resources and agency to buy music I went to the Sam Goody to pick up Disintegration but they didn't have it. They did have Live In Paris though, which had Lovesong so I bought that. It wasn't long before I had all of The Cure's releases, including the UK imports.

To this day, my music preferences are very much influenced by what I grew up listening to with my parents. Many of those bands came and went over the years and then came back, but without a doubt, the one constant above all others would be The Eagles. Honorable mention goes to Billy Joel. I'm honestly not sure I can remember a time where they weren't a part of my life.
