just wondering what's your personal favorite video game soundtrack in regards to licensed music? Mine is probably GTA V or the first Saints Row game.

I have several favorites and really can’t choose any one of them over the others. They are:
Xenogears
Lost Odyssey
Final Fantasy 7
GTA Vice City and THPS 2 & 3
65daysofstatic doing the soundtrack to No Man's Sky was pretty dope.
Spyro trilogy. It was composed by Stewart Copeland, the drummer for The Police
Vice City was a classic.
Top Gear for Super Nintendo. The soundtrack jams.
The soundtracks to Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill 2, instant classics for me to this day. For licensed music I would have to go with the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, opened my ears to a ton of artists that I still love and play for my kids.
Wipeout XL - It's from when games first started having true soundtracks. It's going back further than all but maybe 1 of the current replies, but it was so solid.
GTA San Andreas
Megaman
I was referring more to games with soundtracks featuring licensed music.
yeah licensed music soundtracks was kind of what I meant when I created this thread but thanks for the replay.

oh i'm aware, the end theme from The Amanda Show was actually the same music as Wizard's Peak.
anyways I was referring more to games with soundtracks featuring licensed music.

Vice City is up there for me as well.
Oh. Then my choice is Rock n Roll Racing.
Frequency on PS2
Maybe Streetfighter II or Revenge of Shinobi. Or super castlevania IV.
Fallout
Loved the music in Fifa 07. With muse - super massive black hole and Keane - nothing in my way as most popular songs I think.
If we talking original composition then it's Undertale. It's frequent use of leitmotifs retells the story so easily. Filled to the brim with feelings. Considering it was written by Toby Fox himself who went on to write some songs for Nintendo
Vice City and GTA 4

Yuki no Hane, Toki no Kaze (G Senjou no Maou)
Road Rash 64
Radio The Mix (Saints Row 2), radio K-DST (Gta San Andreas). Also Wave103 & Flash FM
(Gta Vice City).
Streets of Rage 2
Mirror's Edge without a doubt and y'all uneducated ffs.
TLOZ: Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker
red dead redemption 2 or no man’s sky
Donkey Kong Country 2, classic.
Skyrim
Age of Empires 2
I was referring more to licensed music in games.
Odyssey: The Legend of Nemesis if that counts. If they had to get permission from the Kabalevsky, Rachmaninov, and Prokofiev estates, anyway.
Hotline miami 1 and 2.
The Witcher 3 and Machinarium.
Hands-down, absolutely and without any hesitation whatsoever is Betrayal at Krondor's soundtrack. It's majestically epic, and isn't just a great tune or two, but has a *minimum* of 20 fantastic spellbinding tracks, and lots of variations on a couple of the main theme tracks. Unapparelled.
In a distant, distaaaaant second and third would come Castlevania Symphony of the Night and THPSII. Megaman II and III also had great soundtracks. Fallout New Vegas has a very moody, memorable soundtrack as well.
Ocarina of Time has an obviously fantastic soundtrack as well, as does Chronotrigger.
BAD RELIGION IN THE HOUSE!
P.S. WAR RODNEY MULLEN!
Thank you kind sir. II and III have spectacular tracks littered throughout.
Haha, nice. The PS roadrash from the same era had all the same songs, except several more though.
The Persona series and Nier Automata
FF VI
A few of my favorites
SMT III: Nocturne
Halo Reach
F.E.A.R 2 Project Origins
Street Fighter 3, both Second Gen and 3rd Strike
Katamari Damacy
Hollow knight, but don't listen to it before playing.
Nintendo game soundtracks are licensed. You mean songs that were not originally made for a game.
My original post was specifically talking about music licensed specifically for a game, not music composed for a game, i've never once heard of original video game compositions refereed to as licensed music.
They hire composers and the music is Nintendo licensed, you get copyright notice using song/sample/instrument version. I'm a musician and Nintendo sheet music is very popular
Definitely GTA V. I've been playing a lot of GTA IV lately and aside from a few songs, the licensed music just doesn't hit the same way. GTA V's radios are perfect.
Persona 4, Total Annihilation, Fallout New Vegas

I guess I see your logic, I should've specifically said licensed SONGS in the original post to be more clear.
All good, I play more soundtracks than videogames, Vice City and GTA V also my favorites
Tony Hawk 1
Graveyard Keeper
Persona 5 is my personal fav and nothing comes even close, Skyrim hkwever is a good runner up. Third would be Killer Instinct (Xbox One)
Quintessential 90s soundtrack
my favorite composed soundtrack would probably be Dying Light, very John Carpenter-esque.
Vice City, Red Dead Redemption, and Last of Us
Mmm there are a lot, but if I choose one maybe Celeste
GTA Vice City and the Doom series. Doom 2016 soundtrack is so good with the game
Snowrunner soundtrack is very relaxing. Shame it isn't on Spotify.
