Not the original artists, but there is a group called Sargent Peppercorn's Lonely Hearts Club Band that comes together once a year in Columbus, Ohio and plays every Beatles album in a 13-hour marathon, usually along with a solo album from one of the Beatles members and a few tracks by the others.

They have the blessing of Paul and Ringo, both of whom have recorded introductions for the show.

hjvkjvkjvg OP t1_j9ka0ei wrote

That sounds insane!

UncontrolableUrge t1_j9kawe9 wrote

It really is. From Rubber Soul onwards, the Beatles were strictly a studio band. They had to figure out how to do on stage what the Beatles did with a full studio. They have more musicians and modern technology, but Revolution #9 is challenging, and they make Tomorrow Never Knows an absolute banger live. Plus they play everything without breaks. They do rotate musicians, so individuals can sit out a few songs to eat and pee, but they keep going for 13 hours solid.

SweetCosmicPope t1_j9k3xzr wrote

Coheed and Cambria does this every five years or so with tours they call "Neverender." They're getting ready to do one this spring/summer for their album "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV Volume II: No World For Tomorrow"

terryjuicelawson t1_j9ju2fa wrote

It is increasingly common, especially indie and rock acts. They can tie it in with a re-release and tour that album playing it in full. I have seen a handful of bands do it, the Super Furry Animals did their first two albums. Manic Street Preachers did the Holy Bible followed by a greatest hits encore. I saw Boris do one album and I didn't even realise it was a full album set. Fucked Up did one too, the David Comes to Life album. Works well for cult acts with older legendary albums that maybe they don't play many tracks of live in a normal set. Really exciting for the hardcore fans then.

That was the thing, I got into the Manics around 98/99 when they were heading more into mellow chart territory. They never played stuff like that, so seeing the Holy Bible in full was like a dream come true. It was in the grounds of Cardiff Castle too.

I caught the 20th anniversary tour Clash of the Titans. Megadeth, Slayer and Testament each had an album that was 20 years old: Rust in Peace, Seasons in the Abyss and Souls of Black. Every set began with their respective album, played start to finish. Those are either my absolute or among my favorite albums by those bands so it was great to hear all of the deep cuts live.

I have tickets to see They Might Be Giants doing Flood plus a second set of greatest hits.

I caught Peter Murphy and David J touring for the anniversary of In the Flat Field. They did every song except Crowds, which Peter Murphy had not played live since the album was released. They had an opening act chosen specifically to play that song. Eventually later in the tour he would come out and sing it.

Primus has done it several times. They've performed Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Frizzle Fry, Pork Soda, Green Naugahyde, Wonka, and Desatruating Seven. Most recently, they toured performing Rush's "A Farewell to Kings" in its entirety. Les Claypool's Frog Brigade is gearing up to perform Pink Floyd's "Animals" this Spring, which they also did 20 years ago.

I've seen Steely Dan perform Aja in its entirety. They were doing a tour where they would play it one night, then The Royal Scam the next.

I once saw Roger Waters perform Dark Side of the Moon. He's also toured The Wall.

I also once saw Reel Big Fish perform Turn the Radio Off except they skipped Beer and saved it for the encore.

They Might Be Giants tour performing all of Flood (sometimes in reverse order) every few years.

Many years ago, Weezer toured performing Blue Album one night, then Pinkerton the next.

Lots and lots of rock bands do this when they’ve had several albums and one album in particular was most successful / well-known.
