Successful artists or bands who have successfully managed to migrate from one genre to another?

I want to actually make this difficult: the artist question can't have started in Pop, Country, or R&B and then transferred to one of the other two genres.

There are, as far as I know, a lot of very popular artists who have managed to go from County to Pop, or Pop to R&B, but I have never heard of anyone successfully being able to change their sound from like (just an example) Rap to Metal or moved from Punk to EDM and not see their popularity drop off hard, or the work being anything other than disliked.
