Which Direction Do You Bob Your Head?

Do you personally bob forward or backward on the beat?

I’m primarily a drummer and I bob backward on the beat, both playing and listening. I notice this in other drum friends, but not so much other musicians/listeners.

I also notice that I go side to side when something is especially stanky.

Thoughts?

You know since I started playing drums I also noticed that my head bobs every which way now. Especially if I’m playing. I never really thought of it as bobbing back more like just raising my chin I guess?

My head also tends to bounce around all different ways when playing.

Maybe it’s a counter to the downward movement? Kind of like swinging your arms when you walk.
