Ever since Gary Rossington, the last surviving founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, passed away earlier this month, I've been wondering if there are any other bands from that era (late 60's/early 70's) to present day whose founding members have all passed away. Or is Skynyrd actually the first?

All of the original Ramones have been dead since 2014.

Canned Heat. Adolfo is the only member from the 60s, but he wasn't the original.

If you expand it to original members being alive, but having nothing to do with the band, the list gets a bit longer.

Just like the fake Skynyrd, there's also a band calling itself Molly Hatchet touring with zero original members, all of whom have died. Even some of their replacement scabs have died.

I think the commenter was asking about bands that are still touring active.

Oddly enough, the Ramones got a lot of flack for their “never ending” retirement/final shows from July 1995 to August 1996 (13 months). While there now have been bands on multiple retirement/final tours over 5+ years.

This was common with swing bands. I used to go see a lot of them in the 80s and 90s at Disneyland. While occasionally you would see a Lionel Hampton alive, more often it would be "Benny Goodman Band" with a sax player who used to play with him.

Micky Dolenz is that last surviving Monkee. Dickey Betts and Jaimoe Johanson are the last 2 of the 6 original Allman Bros.

I recently saw the Glenn Miller Orchestra. I strongly feel the original members are all dead
