I prefer NIN Hurt and Simon & Garfunkel's sound of silence. Disturbed makes it too dramatic and over the top imo.

Also I way prefer Cage the elephant's "instant crush" over the original by daft punk.

Never said there was a problem. Topic is songs better than the original so I was pointing out that that one is the original.

That is true, but op said Hurt NIN vs Johnny Cash so I was just giving my opinion on that, seeing that most probably pick Johnny over NIN.

I agree with you for different reasons. Cash sounds like he's reading the words for the first time. No emotion. NIN's are anguished. No cover of SoS is any good without the fucking harmony vocal. I actually love what Drayton does on this, but the only one I can stand to listen to is a live version where Myles Kennedy sings the all important 2nd vocal. Beautiful. Disturbed alone i give a 5/10
