Remakes that are better than the originals?

I love listening to different versions of the same song. Would love to put together a playlist and compare originals to other versions. What songs do you like more than the originals? (I know opinions create controversy, let’s be civil).

Both are very good I can not choose...

I prefer NIN Hurt and Simon & Garfunkel's sound of silence. Disturbed makes it too dramatic and over the top imo.

Also I way prefer Cage the elephant's "instant crush" over the original by daft punk.

Let's be real. No one thinks anyone does a better version of " Jolene " than Dolly.

I will say . . . it's not a remake and actually is the original but . .

" I Will Always Love You " is superior as a Dolly song to the Whitney version.

Sorry, the Whitney version just hits me as a cheesy 80's powerballad, which it is. It's cheesy crying in the rain movie music. Also why does she sound happy while singing it?

No, Dolly's is timeless and classic. Better technique doesn't mean you understand the assignment.

That depends on the era. Early Zeppelin had something to prove yet, and were an unstoppable powerhouse live, but a few years later....Plant couldn't do what he did on records, Page played like he had a finger missing, Bonham had so much lag you were never sure if he was just going to pass out drunk at the end of each drum roll. The started amazing, but became absolutely terrible

I agree with you for different reasons. Cash sounds like he's reading the words for the first time. No emotion. NIN's are anguished. No cover of SoS is any good without the fucking harmony vocal. I actually love what Drayton does on this, but the only one I can stand to listen to is a live version where Myles Kennedy sings the all important 2nd vocal. Beautiful. Disturbed alone i give a 5/10

I’ve really tried to give Yungblud a chance but he’s one artist I can’t separate from his music at all. Like his one song which sampled the cure recently was cool till he opened his mouth, kid is just a bit obnoxious.

I'm glad you liked the cover man! I found Johnny Winter a little while back I listened to his album Second Winter and its great thats where this cover comes from I think. I really like blues rock and when I first heard him I was like wow the guitar skills are next level!

I wanted to say too that this live video is awesome! What I love most about it is the crowd, look how much fun they having, how they love and vibe with the music. I see very little of this today when I go to live shows and its just kinda everwhere that people dont have the same energy or love for rock music idk its like an epidemic or something.

311 has an unreleased version of D'yer Mak'er that is perfect for their style of music. There are several versions on youtube.

If someone had never heard Led Zeppelin and listened to the No Quarter cover they'd think Zeppelin sounds like Tool, and if they listened to the D'yer Mak'er cover they'd think Zeppelin sounds like 311.

Tool and 311 sound nothing like each other and somehow each band choose to cover a Zeppelin song that completely complements their own unique sound.
