I've been listening to a lot of the music from this scene and literally all the music is good. So I would love to see differing opinions on this topic.

My favourite is Alice in Chains for sure and I'm not gonna deny Soundgarden as the best.

I would love to have discussions on any of these topics:

Best Vocalist(s)

Best Guitarist(s)

Best Bassist(s)

Best Drummer(s)

Best album

Favourite song

Favourite Band

Best Band

MUDHONEY

Or at least, the once kings of the scene who stopped writing great material right around the time Nirvana took off. But they truly never strayed from their classic sound very much, a wilder take on 60s garage rock and Iggy / Stooges. Deliberately primitive.

As an aside, there had previously been a band called Green River. When they split up c1987, half would go on to form Mudhoney…the other half Pearl Jam. Hmmm.

Nailed it. Mudhoney is legit grunge and sparked great things for the scene. A solid addition to any record collection.

Yeah. Early Mudhoney is probably the best grunge. It's like Nirvana, but just more fun.

I'm not great at defining genres, but I recommend AuRa

'Panic room' is one of my favorites from her, but I also reccomend 'Ghost'

I mean the obvious answer is Nirvana. In Utero is in a complete different league than any of the other big albums from that era. They check all of the boxes on your list, except maybe best bassist. Not sure who I’d pick for that.

I love In Utero too, my favourite song from the album is Pennyroyal Tea. Although I wouldnt consider it the best of that era. I wouldn't even consider it the best of Nirvana tbh.

You know, this grunge scene is one where you can't really disagree with any list. Especially for Vocalist, each one of them were iconic.
