Does anyone know of any good solo guitar players/singers? It could be any genre, man or woman etc. etc. I'm really trying to find something new to listen too and hopefully you all here would have some suggestions.

Steven Wilson. Start with his albums Hand Cannot Erase. (2015), The Raven That Refused to Sing (2013) and To the Bone (2017).

Also, if you're interested, check out his band Porcupine Tree. This dude is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Anyone in their right mind would agree once they hear his music.

All of what you said is correct. Closure/Continuation will probably be in my top 5 albums released this year

Mark Knopfler is absolutely incredible. He's got an instantly recognizable sound and has a knack for just making good music.

JJ Cale is another good one. He's one of those guys that has written a lot of really great songs that other artists have covered, but never had any huge hits with any of his own songs.

The Tallest Man on Earth aka Kristian Mattson, a Swedish singer-songwriter in the Bob Dylan vein. Great lyrics, great vocals, and spectacular open-tuned acoustic guitar playing. His 2010 album The Wild Hunt is a good starting point.

David Bowie is a classic, never truly solo I guess but who is? My personal favorite is Daniel Rossen, he’s a part of Grizzly Bear and Department of Eagles, but his solo work is amazing. Almost forgot about Jim Croce, another classic

Jim Croce is amazing and I love him, I just want to nitpick a slight bit in that there's actually two guitars in most of his songs, with the second guitar player being Maury Muehleisen, who we also sadly lost in the plane crash that killed Jim Croce. The beauty of their songs is that the guitars blend together so effortlessly that it's hard to tell it's more than one.

I understand that, just like I said about Bowie, and even Rossen, I don’t think there’s a lot of truly solo artists. You’re right though, Maury should also be just as respected and remembered as Jim.

This video of them performing always brings a tear to my eye

Oh thank you! I am Blake Hobson. The Spectaculator is my second album (way less boring than my first album, lol). It’s definitely not for everyone, but I hope some will enjoy it. ✌️

I really like Kevin Hufnagel’s ‘Songs for the Disappeared’, probably my favourite of his solo albums next to his baritone uke stuff. I think it is still his only acoustic guitar album, but some of his other solo albums are processed electric guitar and some are very interesting (plus his band work with Dysrhythmia is superb).

John Fruciante

Brendon Smalls

John was with the Red Hot Chilly Peppers he left and worked on his solo career and made some amazing albums and tracks. Now he is abck with the peppers and I love their album Unlimited Love.

Brendon created Dethklok from the Adult Swim show Metalocalyps and it is incredible Melodic/Death Metal (idk Im not and expert with subgeneres of metal, too many). However, he has his solo work too Gallactikon 1 and 2 have some incredible music!
