I played in jazz band and marching band in high school, and I just got back into trumpet, but I was thinking of getting inspired by other kinds of music. Anything come to mind?

Personally, I like the trumpet stuff on Beirut's records

And I'm a fan of old ska and newer ska

But I'm open to anything that might be fun to learn or get inspiration from!

Motown stuff is what I think of when it comes to fun horn lines. You can go down a rabbit hole with that really easily.

Try some brass band (NO style). Rebirth is a good place to start but there’s lots.
